Why claim casino bonuses?

Casino bonuses have a lot of benefits for online gamblers. You can instantly increase your bankroll, often by a large amount and without having to do anything you weren’t already going to do (i.e. make a deposit). This gives you more money to play with and lengthens your playing time considerably.

Online casino bonuses are also a fantastic way to try out a new casino without any risk to your wallet. Many casinos offer no deposit bonuses that you can get without having to make a deposit – they are small but they do give you the chance to try out a few spins and see how the casino works without spending a single cent of your own cash.

Type of casino bonuses

There are a number of different casinos bonuses. While they vary from casino to casino, the most common ones are:

  • No deposit bonus: As its name would suggest, this bonus is given out without you making a deposit. Usually a no deposit bonus is an incentive to sign up with a new casino and give it a risk free try. Sometimes you get to keep your winnings, other times you can use the winnings to play more games.
  • Deposit match bonus: A deposit match bonus is awarded to players who sign up to a new casino and make their first deposit. The casino will match the deposit up to a certain amount to give them a boost to their bankroll. Some deposit match bonuses are given in one hit, others stretch over your first few deposits.
  • Free spins bonus: Free spins are another common bonus that can be given to new players or as a reward for loyalty and regular play. A free spins bonus gives you a set number of turns on a nominated slot game.
  • Free play bonus: Free play bonuses are not as common as they used to be but some casinos still like to offer them to new players. Once you sign up you get a large stack of cash and a certain amount of time in which to spend it. The idea is to win as much as possible within that amount of time. In most cases you’ll get to keep the winnings (usually capped at a certain amount).

Bonus terms and conditions

All casino bonuses come with terms and conditions so it’s important to read the fine print before you accept any bonus offer. While the conditions vary between different casinos, a few of the main things to look out for are:

  • Wagering requirements: Before you can withdraw any winnings from your bonus cash you will need to meet the wagering requirements. Wagering requirements tell you how much money you need to spend at the casino before you can make a withdrawal and they are expressed as a multiple of your bonus (for example 35x, 50x etc.).
  • Game contributions: Different games contribute differently to your wagering requirements. For example, slots might count 100% but roulette might only count 10%. If you’re trying to turn over your bonus you’ll want to stick with games that offer the biggest contribution.
  • Time limits: Most casino bonuses come with an expiry date once you’ve claimed them. This could be as little as 24 hours for free spins, or up to a month for deposit match bonuses.
  • Max bet size: While you have an active bonus your bet size may be limited to a set amount per wager. This is generally set at around the $5 mark. Betting over the max bet could mean you lose your bonus and any associated winnings so check carefully.
  • Cap on winnings: For some bonuses your winnings may be capped at a certain amount. This means any winnings over and above the set amount won’t be awarded to you. This is most common for no deposit bonuses and free spins. Not all casinos do this, but keep in mind it’s a possibility and read the terms and conditions to be sure.

Our bonus reviews include all the relevant terms and conditions so you can be sure you know what you’re getting.
